Everybody wants to be the next Somerville. Medford, Chelsea, Watertown. Even Fitchburg.
That’s the gist of The Boston Globe’s latest article, “Boston-area communities vie to be the next Somerville.”
Somerville’s rapid growth in stature is due to a variety of factors; it’s cool, young, and friendly. Dynamic and creative. But also authentic, with residents who’ve lived here for generations. It’s easy to see why people flock here, and easy also to see why other towns would want to recreate Somerville’s community atmosphere.
Steve was consulted for the article, and weighs in with the difficulties facing the towns aiming to be “the next Somerville.”
